Day 1. Arrive Launceston, Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, Welcome Drinks and Dinner
Bet met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Your journey starts with a drive through picturesque farmland and vineyards following the Tamar River towards the sea. Arrive at the gold mining town of Beaconsfield where you’ll enjoy a tour of the Mine and Heritage Centre. This evening, enjoy Welcome Drinks and Dinner featuring fresh Tasmanian produce.

Day 2. Weldborough Pass, East Coast Natureworld, Freycinet National Park, Swansea
Drive through the scenic wine-producing area of northern Tasmania. During flowering season, visit the Bridestowe Lavender Farm as it explodes with colour (Dec.-Jan.). Traverse the lush Weldborough Pass and stop at East Coast Natureworld. Here, meet Delilah the Tasmanian Devil and other unique native animals. Travel along beautiful Tasmanian coastline and into stunning Freycinet National Park. Learn about the flora and fauna on a guided walk along Richardsons Beach. Then travel to the seaside town of Swansea, where tonight you may choose to upgrade your meal and indulge in a Tasmanian crayfish dinner (Contact Us for further details).

Day 3. Ross, Richmond, Eaglehawk Neck, Port Arthur
Discover the historic heart of Tasmania, as you visit the old township of Campbell Town and Ross. Continue south to the charming Georgian village of Richmond and see the famous Richmond Bridge. Proceed to Eaglehawk Neck and enjoy views of the rugged coastline from Pirates Bay lookout. Continue on to historic Port Arthur where you’ll stay at a delightful waterfront location.

Day 4. Port Arthur Historic Site, Harbour Cruise, Hobart
Get set to be transported back in time to Port Arthur, Australia’s most notorious convict prison, described as ‘hell on earth’. Take a guided tour through the ruins of this remarkable site that vividly evokes convict history like no other place in Australia. Then join a cruise aboard the Marana, around the Isle of the Dead. This afternoon travel to Hobart, where tonight you’ll enjoy dinner at the Customs House Hotel Restaurant.

Day 5. Hobart Sightseeing Tour, Salamanca Market
Explore the old world charm of Hobart on an orientation tour, taking in Salamanca Place, Constitution Dock and the harbour. Then enjoy one of Tasmania’s best drawcards, the Salamanca Market. Here you can peruse over 300 stalls offering gourmet produce, arts, crafts and treasures from all over Tasmania. You may wish to join one of our optional excursions such as a full-day eco-adventure tour to pristine Bruny Island (own expense)

Bruny Island Experience
You may wish to forego the tour of Hobart and Salamanca Market to visit Bruny Island. Travel to Adventure Bay and board an award-winning eco-cruise that will take you for a thrilling journey along the rugged coast. Escorted by knowledgeable guides, watch for wildlife, including Australian Fur Seals, albatrosses, and perhaps dolphins or whales. Contact Us for further details.
Day 6. Mt Field National Park, Lake St Clair, Strahan
Travel to Mt Field National Park to immerse yourself in nature on a short walk to spectacular Russell Falls. The magic continues as we enter World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park and take in the dramatic scenery from the tranquil shores of Lake St Clair. This afternoon, perhaps choose to board the West Coast Wilderness Railway for a scenic rail journey (see p.18 for details). Otherwise, travel by coach through World Heritage-listed wilderness to the picturesque port of Strahan. Tonight, enjoy a delicious buffet dinner at View 42° Restaurant and Bar.

Day 7. Strahan, Gordon River Cruise, Sarah Island Tour, Cradle Mountain
This morning, board a luxury vessel for a unique cruising experience that will leave you spellbound. Glide across the still waters of Macquarie Harbour, leaving the pioneering town of Strahan in your wake, and enter a true wilderness region, the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Continue deeper into the heart of Tasmania’s World Heritage-listed Wilderness region to Sarah Island. This remote location was the site of Tasmania’s oldest convict settlement, operating from 1822 to 1833, and at the time, was also home to the largest ship building yard in Australia. It’s when towering Huon pines were felled by convicts and floated downstream to be transformed into sailing vessels. Here, enjoy an intriguing tour of these historic convict ruins. Then reboard your cruise, passing by the entrance to the Great Southern Ocean, known as Hell’s Gate, and enjoy a buffet lunch on board before returning to Strahan. Rejoin your coach and journey through stirring landscapes of forests, rivers and lakes, bound for the mesmerising Cradle Mountain.

Day 8. Cradle Mountain, Dove Lake, Sheffield, Stanley and The Nut, Smithton
Soak in the serenity of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. This is quintessential Tasmania, where bewildering landscapes covered with alpine flora leave you wondering about life’s priorities. Visit Waldheim Chalet and take in the glorious vistas from the shores of Dove Lake. Then travel via Sheffield, the town of murals, to the fishing village of Stanley, set in the shadow of The Nut - a striking rocky outcrop rising over 137 metres from the sea. Arrive in Tasmania’s northwestern town of Smithton, and perhaps after dinner, join a tour to discover the Little Penguin colony that lives on Stanley’s foreshore (own expense).

Day 9. Ashgrove Cheese Factory, Great Lakes Plateau, Launceston, Farewell Drinks and Dinner
Sample some of Tasmania’s finest cheeses and learn about the art of cheese-making at Ashgrove Cheese Factory. Head to the Great Lakes Plateau, admiring the vast lakes that draw fishing folk from far and near. Continue to Launceston, where tonight you’ll enjoy a Farewell Drinks and Dinner.

Day 10. Cataract Gorge, Tamar River Cruise, Spirit of Tasmania
Explore Cataract Gorge on the outskirts of Launceston and wander the magnificent gardens. After this, join a relaxing morning cruise along the Tamar River. This afternoon travel to Woolmers Estate and admire the National Rose Garden before rejoining the coach for a transfer to Devonport for the Spirit of Tasmania to Melbourne
